4 Things You Didn't Know about Teeth

We use our teeth every single day, from biting, eating to speaking. We often take our teeth for granted. We often don't realize how strong and vital they are to our health, appearance and overall impact teeth have on our bodies. Here are 4 surprising facts you may not know about your teeth.
- Cavities: Did you know a cavity is one of the few things the body cannot heal. It just gets larger with time, unless a dentist removes the decay and places a filling.
- “Diet soda and sports drinks can be just as tough on teeth as regular soda. Both contain acid. Acid attacks the enamel surface of your teeth and can lead to cavities. Some bottled waters and flavored bubbly waters can be acidic enough to cause cavities too!”
- Did you know a tooth can grow in upside down, sideways or backwards? This can all contribute to problems we can solve at Chorak Orthodontics. From overbites, to underbites, our teams in Fairwood and Mercer Island, are pleased to have the opportunity to provide families with the highest quality orthodontic care using the latest technology.
- Our back teeth are called “molars.” They are used for grinding food when you chew.
